ICAC has received and hosted a number of specialised delegations from China. From arranging business meetings to holding Seminars on focused themes that address the interests of the guests, the effort has been to strengthen business and cultural relationships between organisations representing the two countries.
To name a few, ICAC received and hosted an IT delegation from Chengdu city led by Vice-Mayor, Mr. Hao Kang Li; followed by a Seminar on Sino-Indian Economic Cooperation in New Delhi with Mr. Shashank, the then Foreign Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India as Chief Guest and Mr. Jonathan K.S. Choi, CEO, Sun Wah Group, Hong Kong as Keynote Speaker.
The visit of another IT delegation led by Dr. Wang Xiang Kun, Vice-Mayor of the Shenyang Municipal People’s Government to India was coordinated by ICAC as also, receiving delegations from the Guangzhou Tianhe Software Park led by Mr. Wu Yimin, Standing Member of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of CPC and another large delegation from Shandong Province (Department of Science and Technology).
Delegations led by the Deputy Mayor of the Shenyang Municipal People’s Government in New Delhi and Agra were extremely productive. During this visit, an MoU was signed between Mr. Hongfeng Yang, Director, Shenyang Information Industry Bureau and Mr. (Late) Piyush Bahl, CEO, ICAC.
A high profile delegation from Shenyang Huangu District and Shenyang Information Industry Bureau led by Mr. Liu Huimin, Secretary of Shenyang Huanggu District Communist Party Committee were also hosted by ICAC. Apart from meetings with IT Software Companies in Noida and Bangalore, the delegation visited Trivandrum. The highlight of this visit was a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala. Technopark also organised a major Seminar on Sino-Indian Cooperation in the IT Software/ ITeS Sector. The Chief Secretary of Kerala hosted a banquet dinner in honour of the visiting Chinese delegation.
In 2010, ICAC hosted a delegation of administrative managing members, senior editors and journalists from Yunan province, led by Mr. Xu Ti Yi, Vice President of Yunan Daily Press group. The 10-member media delegation was hosted by The Statesman in Kolkatta and the Hindustan Times group in New Delhi. They were briefed by senior Indian editors on processes followed in the newsroom; they interacted with journalists; and they visited the Hindustan Times’ state-of-the-art printing press in Noida.
ICAC also coordinated the participation of sports journalists to Kunming, to participate on the invitation of the Chinese government in the “Business and Leisure Programme to China Eternal Spring.” The group were taken on a conducted tour of various golfing sites in Kunming , which is the capital city of Yunnan Province which links borders with Myanmar, Laos & Vietnam and with Tibet autonomous region to its north.
